在足总杯四分之一决赛爆冷负于维甘后，曼城主帅突然发现自己少赛三场还不如切尔西在积分榜上拿到的分数来的实在。

很明显曼城更衣室中最不能提及的话题就是四冠王——当然现在不必考虑这个了。鉴于周三要带着两球的劣势前往巴塞罗那期待翻盘需要太大的奇迹发生，佩莱格里尼也不需要回避三冠王的问题了。

周四开始，估计曼城的重心就要集中在如何追平英超积分榜与切尔西的9分差距上了。至少佩莱格里尼可以从赛程不再密集这一点上找到慰藉，如果不出意外的话，也就剩下联赛可以让他们争一下了。

提到奉承，巴萨传奇哈维本周接受采访时对德米凯利斯的赞扬，让球迷大呼不解。O

可能巴萨的中场节拍器只是在玩心理战——这一点上佩莱格里尼貌似并不灵光。

但就算佩莱格里尼想针锋相对，德米凯利斯也因停赛无法上场了。

无论如何，曼城也几乎无缘晋级。事实上，卡拉格在其邮报专栏写道，既然已几乎没有悬念，最聪明的做法就是给大牌球星都放个假。

All of a sudden Chelsea’s points on the board looks infinitely preferable to Manchester City’s three games in hand as Manuel Pellegrini surveys the aftermath of the shock FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Wigan.
Apparently all talk of the quadruple had been banned at Manchester City’s training ground - no worries on that score anymore. And needing a miracle in Barcelona on Wednesday night to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat in the last 16 of the Champions League there is probably no need for Pellegrini to outlaw talk of the treble either.
Come Thursday morning, City’s focus is likely to be firmly fixed on closing the nine point gap to Chelsea in the Barclays Premier League title race. At least Pellegrini can seek solace from the fact there is likely to be no need to worry about fixture congestion if, as expected, all there will be left to play for is the league title.

Pellegrini has mirrored that career path so far but, where once pundits were falling over themselves to predict the Chilean would, like Mourinho, win the title in his first season on these shores, they are now left wondering if the horse they should have backed was the little one.
! S: q5 H3 D) ]On current form, can City fans head into the vital away games against Arsenal and Liverpool brimming with confidence that their multi-million favourites will pick up the necessary six points?
There is, of course, the small matter of a Manchester derby to come at Old Trafford prior to those top of the table clashes. Even David Moyes must be increasingly hopeful that another open letter to United’s supporters will not be required after that one.
City’s results away from the Etihad so far this season would only be good enough for eighth place and with six of their remaining games on the road, should Pellegrini not address that problem then the main priority will be a top four finish rather than the title.

Either way, there seems precious little chance City will be in the hat for the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite competition. Indeed, Sportsmail columnist Jamie Carragher thinks the wisest course of action would be to give City’s star names the night off with the cause surely already lost.
