United's final fixture before the trip to the Dallas Cup ended with a convincing victory with Davide Petrucci grabbing a brace in a 4-1 win.

In weather conditions perhaps more akin to Texas than Merseyside, the Reds were a joy to watch and took less than two minutes to open the scoring. A break from an Everton free-kick, inspired by Paul Pogba's unerring pass, allowed Jesse Lingard to volley the ball into the path of Will Keane, who fired through Adam Davies' legs.

Will Keane volleyed just wide from a Pogba cross and another Petrucci effort dipped over the top.

Lingard did get his deserved goal when finishing off a splendid one-touch move after Will Keane had initially held off Weir, the winger firing home with aplomb in the second half.

Cleverley survived a couple of rash challenges, which saw Eric Dier and Francisco Junior booked, to continue to pull the strings.

This was another excellent display by Warren Joyce's side on the road that keeps the Reds firmly in pole position to win the Barclays Premier Reserve League North title with a number of eye-catching performances and some intricate one-touch football at pace.
